Fortas Chamber Music Concerts: Davóne Tines: Recital No 1: MASS
Acclaimed bass-baritone Davóne Tines groundbreaking MASS reimagines the traditional Catholic Mass as a sweeping meditation on faith, identity, and the shared human experience. Blending everything from Baroque airs by Bach and Handel to poignant works by 20th century Black composers Margaret Bonds and Julius Eastman, as well as contemporary pieces by Pulitzer winners Caroline Shaw and Tyshawn Sorey, Tines uses his magnetic stage presence and captivating timbre, at once grand and fraught, potent and vulnerable (The New Yorker), to craft a one-of-a-kind reflection on belief, history, race, and community. NO BAGS larger than 18 x 16 x 8 inches. All Terrace seats require climbing stairs. There are no elevators in the Auditorium. Any child age 2 and older requires a ticket for admission.
