NEJC Presents Ethan Iverson + Walter Smith III
Do not miss this special event featuring two leading lights of contemporary jazz in their first duo performance together. Ethan Iverson, a cofounder of The Bad Plus and a Blue Note recording artist, is a pianist and composer who has worked with Jack DeJohnette, Larry Grenadier, Billy Hart, Mark Turner and the Mark Morris Dance Group. Walter Smith III, a fellow Blue Note recording artist, is Chair of Woodwinds at Berklee College of Music. He has performed or recorded with Terence Blanchard, Jason Moran, Ambrose Akinmusire, Herbie Hancock, Maria Schneider and Joe Lovano. Time Out New York called Iverson perhaps NYCs most thoughtful and passionate student of jazz tradition, the most admirable sort of artist scholar. Blue Notes Evan Haga wrote that Smith ranks among the most impressive tenor saxophonists of our time.
